Voters in Reston and Fairfax County participate in elections for county, state and Federal offices. Federal positions are elected in even-numbered years. State and County offices are elected in odd-numbered years. All general elections are held in November. Primary elections (when called) are in June. Parties may also nominate by canvass or convention; those events are held within 30 days before the June primary. RCGR encourages all eligible Reston area residents to register and to exercise their right to vote in every election.
