Campaign 2009
ELECTION UPDATE:
- Statewide: All three GOP candidates elected in landslide. McDonnell won by 59%-41%, largest margin in recent history. See news reports and statewide returns.
- Fairfax: McDonnell carried the County with 51%, the best showing for a Republican statewide candidate since 2000. In Delegate races, all three Republican incumbents (Albo, Hugo, Rust) were re-elected; two Republicans (Comstock, LeMunyon) defeated incumbent Democrats; and several other GOP challengers came close. See local news and Fairfax returns.
Help elect Republicans in Northern Virginia!
Fairfax County voters cast ballots for Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, state legislators and county offices in 2009. The general election was Tuesday, November 3.
Republican nominees for the three statewide offices were selected at the Virginia GOP Convention on May 30. (Two of the races were contested, and many Fairfax Republicans participated as delegates. See more on this year's Convention process.) Our nominees for local offices were selected in late spring.
There were also two special elections for the Board of Supervisors in early 2009 (see details).
We invite you to get involved with the '09 campaigns here in Reston and Fairfax County! Four things you can do today:
For Governor of Virginia
Former Atty. Gen. Bob McDonnell is the GOP nominee for Governor in 2009.
Bob is a native of Fairfax County. He served in the House of Delegates from Virginia Beach for 10 years. He was elected Attorney General in 2005, and served until stepping down in Feb. 2009 for the Governor's race. He has broad support throughout the Commonwealth, and we look forward to supporting his campaign here in Fairfax.
