NOTE: Fairfax Republicans will separately participate in Republican primaries on June 8 to select the GOP nominees for Congress in the 8th, 10th & 11th Districts. See Campaign 2010.

Party offices: In early 2010, Fairfax Republicans will select County Committee members for the next two years. We'll also select delegates to the Fairfax County Republican Convention in March, whcih elects the County chairman; and to the 8th, 10th & 11th Congressional District GOP conventions in May, which elect the District Chairmen. There are many positions available, and RCGR encourages all interested party members to participate.

Any registered voter in Fairfax County, who is in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, may file for any or all of the following positions:

  • Member of the County Committee (2010-12);
  • Delegate to the County Convention (Mar. 27);
  • Chairman of the County Committee (2010-12);
  • Delegate to the 8th, 10th or 11th
    Congressional District Convention (May 22);
  • Chairman of the 8th, 10th or 11th
    Congressional District Committee (2010-12).

Candidates for County Chairman must submit a letter of intent to FCRC by Fri., Feb. 26. Delegates to the County Convention on Sat., Mar. 27 will then elect the County Chairman.

Candidates for County Committee members, County Convention delegates and/or District Convention Delegates must submit the official filing form to FCRC by Sat., Mar. 13. If the number who file for County Committee and County Convention delegates does not exceed the number of available positions, all candidates will be elected automatically. Otherwise, party canvasses (by magisterial district) will be held on Sat., Mar. 20.

The filing requirements for Chairmen of the 8th, 10th and 11th Congressional Districts are set by each District Committee.

    Purpose: To elect the County Chairman.
    Date & time: Sat., Mar. 27, 9 am.
    Location: West Springfield High School in Springfield (see map).
  • 8th District Convention
    Purpose: To elect the 8th District Chairman.
    Date & time: Sat., May 22, 10 am.
    Location: T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria (see map)
    Fairfax County delegation: 163 votes (up to 815 delegates), about 50% of total
      [Other delegations: Alexandria City, Arlington County, Falls Church City]
  • 10th District Convention
    Purpose: To elect the 10th District Chairman.
    Date & time: Sat., May 22, 10 am.
    Location: Fauquier High School in Warrenton (see map)
    Fairfax County delegation: 350 votes (up to 1750 delegates), about 30% of total vote

  • 11th District Convention
    Purpose: To elect the 11th District Chairman.
    Date & time: Sat., May 22, 11 am.
    Location: West Springfield High School in Springfield (see map)
    Fairfax County delegation: 341 votes (up to 1715 delegates), about 50% of total vote)

NOTE: Only those who sign up for the Conventions by the Fairfax filing deadline (Mar. 13) are eligible to be voting delegates at the County Convention (Mar. 27) or the District Conventions (May 22).
