Help elect Republicans in Northern Virginia!
Fairfax County voters will elect members of the General Assembly and County officials in 2011. Democrats currently hold most of the legislative and county seats, so there are great opportunities for Republican gains.
Va. General Assembly
The entire State Senate and House of Delegatesare up for election in 2011, including the districts in Fairfax Republicans currently control the House (61-39), but Democrats control the Senate (22-18). Note that many district lines will be changed for this election, due to redistricting.

Redistricting note
Legislative redistricting (based on results of the 2010 census) was completed in April 2011. Candidate filing deadlines have been pushed back. There were changes to every district - and some were substantial. Congressional, redistricting is scheduled for June. For updated info, see Va. redistricting site and VPAP.
- Senate District 31 - Republican Caren Merrick is running against incumbent Janet Howell (D).

- Senate District 32 - Republican Patrick Forrest is running against incumbent Janet Howell (D).

- Senate District 33 - Republican Patricia Phillips is running against incumbent Mark Herring (D).
[SD33 includes Herndon and Chantily Fairfax County, and parts of eastern Loudoun (including Sterling, Ashburn and Leesburg) - see district profile.]
- Senate District 34 - Republican Gerarda Culipher is running agaubst incumbent Chap Petersen (D).

- Senate District 35 - Republican Rob Sarvis is running agaubst incumbent Dick Saslaw (D).

- Senate District 37 - Republicans Jason Flanary and Steve Hunt are competing for the nomination; the winner will face incumbent Dave Marsden (D).

House seats in northern and central Fairfax:
- House District 34 - Republican Del. Barbara Comstock is running for re-election.

- House District 35 - incumbent Mark Keam (D) is expected to seek re-election.
- House District 36 - Republican Mac Cannon is running against incumbent Ken Plum (D).
- House District 37 - Republican Brian Shoeneman is running against incumbent David Bulova (D).
- House District 48 - incumbent Bob Brink (D) is running for re-election.
- House District 53 - incumbent Jim Scott (D) is running for re-election.

- House District 67 - Republican Del. Jim LeMunyon is running for re-election.

Fairfax County offices
All seats on the Board of Supervisors and School Board are up in 2011, along iwth two constitutional offices. Supervisor districts were redrawn in April, as part of redistricting.

County offices in Northern Fairfax:
- Chairman, Board of Supervisors (county-wide) -Republican Spike Williams is running. He'll face incumbent Sharon Bulova (D).
- Braddock District Supervisor - Republican supervisor John Cook is seeking re-election.
- Dranesville District Supervisor - Republican Dennis Husch is running against incumbent John Faust (D).
- Hunter Mill District Supervisor - incumbent Cathy Hudgins (D) is seeking re-election.
- Providence District Supervisor - Republican Chris Grisafe is running against incumbent Linda Smythe (D).
- Sully District Supervisor - Republican supervisor Michael Frey is seeking re-election.
- Commonwealth's Attorney (county-wide) - incumbent Ray Morrogh (D) is seeking re-election.
- Sheriff (county-wide) - Republicans Bill Cooper and Wes Kammerer are competing for the nomination against incumbent Warren Barry (D).
NOTE: Voters in Fairfax City also participate in the election of the Commonwealth's Attorney and Sheriff.
- Dranesville District School Board - Republican Louise Epstein is running against incumbent Jane Strauss (D).
- Hunter Mill District School Board - RCGR member Nancy Linton is running for an open seat.
- Providence District School Board - incumbent Patty Reed (R) is running for re-election.
- Sully District School Board - Republican Sheila Ratnam is running.
- At-large School Board (3 seats, county-wide) - Republicans Sheree Brown-Kaplan, Lin-Dai Kenall and Lolita Mancheno-Smoak are running.
NOTE: School Board positions are officially non-partisan, but candidates typically run with party endorsements.
